Happy birthday Link

Link, the mascot of City Pawz Pet Sitting has turned 2 today!!!

Not all of us remember our 2nd birthday, other than the cake (because, thats the most important part right?). I decided to make Link a spectacular kitty cake that is so happens to be grain and dairy free, yummy!

This makes one large kitty cake, enough for a couple days worth of treats. You can adjust the amounts to suit your cat's dietary needs. Note that this is for supplemental feeding only.

--------------------------------------------------------------

Here is what you need to get started:

2-3 oz of cooked chicken (turkey works well too).

1 small tin of sardines (you can substitute tuna or salmon for sardines, just make sure it is packed in water with no salt added).

1 packet of gelatin.

2 cups of low sodium chicken broth, separated into one cup each. *You can reduce the amount of broth if you want less jell.

Container for mold.

Birthday candle (optional)

Kitty treats/catnip for garnish (optional)

Thats really all of the ingredients you need for this simple cake. *I cooked the chicken that was shown in this picture, please do not use raw chicken in this recipe*

-Procedure-

Pour the gelatine in 1 cup of chicken broth and stir for 1 minute, until partially dissolved.

Heat the other cup of the broth in the microwave for about 30 seconds and pour on top of the other cup of broth gelatine mixture and stir for 3-4 minutes until the gelatine is fully dissolved.

Pour the mixture into your mold.

Break up your sardines into tiny pieces and place them into the broth. Then do the same with the chicken, it doesn't have to be pretty! ;)

Now comes the "fun" part, you will need to put the cake in the fridge for 3 hours until firm. Entertain your kitty with witty knock knock jokes to pass the time.

Voila! See, that wasn't so hard! Now we can get down to the most important detail!

Obligatory birthday candle, for good measure!

Link approves!
